MLA 9th style requirements

In-text citations

In MLA 9th, you reference by providing a citation within the text of the document (in-text citations), which includes the author and page number.

Works cited

You then add the related entry to the reference list (works cited) at the end of your document. The works cited entry (author, title, source, date) provides the full details of the reference.

Example

In-text citations
